Yesterday was the selection meeting for the Conservative Police & Crime Commissioner candidate. I want to thank everyone who took the time on a bleak November Saturday to come to Maidstone. It was a privilege to present my case to you.
Thank you to all those who gave me their support. In the end I came a strong second. Of course I am disappointed that I will not be able to take on a role which I have come to understand well and researched thoroughly. I am sad that I was not able to secure a mandate to deliver the campaign that I believe would have convinced people of the value of the Commissioner role. I wish Matthew Scott good luck in securing electoral success and taking on this enormously important strategic leadership role.
Having immersed myself totally in all things Police & Crime Commissioner since returning from my parliamentary campaign in Scunthorpe I am, for the first time this year, free to take on new projects, and am really looking forward to this.
