As we say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II, and she joins her beloved husband at rest in Windsor, I wanted to share an uplifting poem which celebrates a life that has been a constant in all our lives.

I write this month with great sadness, as the nation comes together to mourn the death of a much-loved and revered monarch. As we watched the news channels, images of close family arriving at Balmoral last Thursday, before the announcement was made, gave us advanced warning of what was to come.

This afternoon I signed the Book of Condolences at the King's Hall in Stoke, on behalf of constituents in Stoke-on-Trent Central, saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
It was an incredible honour and privilege to be present in Westminster Hall, the scene of so many significant milestones in our nation’s history, to witness the start of a new era, whilst still mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II.
My heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family on this saddest of days. As someone born in 1952, the Queen was a constant throughout my life as I know she was in the lives of so many others. Her dedication to a lifetime of service stands as an inspiration to us all.
